The 'Queen's Croquet Garden' Puzzle is a 326 piece, hand cut jigsaw puzzle cut from original art work pained on 6.5mm ply.  This puzzle features irregular edges, some drop-out apatures and 15 figural pieces including the signature piece. One of the figural pieces, a large heart-shaped piece exists as a mini puzzle within te main puzzle. The heart mini puzzle figural piece features a different painted puzzle on the reverse side while the other figural pieces have also been painted on both sides in the same style as the main painting.

The design for the puzzle image has, in this case been drawn directly onto a gesso-primed 6.5mm ply board prior to inking and painting. The linework in this line and wash painting, has been 'inked-in with black acrylic ink using a pointed nib dip pen.

Thinned washes of black acrlic ink have then been painted over the line work, to establish tones, shading and modelling of forms. This monochrome grey underpainting, now ready for colouring has then been colourised with subsequent separate transparent layered washes of coloured acrylic ink; burnt sienna, pthalo blue and orange yellow.

Some accent colour of red acrylic and colour tints with added white have also been applied prior to final varnishing and cutting. Each of the figural pieces have been painted on the reverse side in the same manner as the main painting.
